With this series I wanted to investigate how an object degrades over time in order to highlight spontaneous outcomes that explore natural behaviours of clay.
I was intrigued by the vernacular shape of the carafe because it’s an object we all know and we can relate to, playing in this way with memory and evoking a sense of familiarity.
Once all the pieces were bone dry, I started dipping them into the bucket of water and oxide for different lengths of time for a maximum of 10 minutes.
The aim of this series was to show the transformation of the design object, its life spam under certain conditions and constraints, as well as questioning functionality and natural forming.
